Dr. S.Narayanan has professional experience teaching economics and policy research for over a decade. He has held various reputed positions in academia, economic research institutions, and associations. He has a Ph.D., in Economics from the University of Madras. His rich research aptitude brought him to join the Institute for Advanced Study and Research (IASR), Chennai where he worked as a Senior Research Fellow before joining as Assistant Professor to teach Economics at Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College (DGVC), Chennai.

He has contributed towards academic growth and holds various positions at DGVC. He has organized more than 25 National and international workshops, symposiums, and conferences. He has worked towards the publication of several articles and edited books, journals, and magazines. He also presented and published research papers at various National / International conferences.  He has been invited to many lectures as a keynote speaker and resource person at various platforms throughout the country.

He is currently the Associate Editor of “The New Economist” founded by the eminent Economist Dr VS Shanmugasundaram. He held positions like Associate Editor for various conference publications of the Indian Economic Association Annual Conferences held across the country every year. He has received many awards for his credentials.  To highlight a few, for his contributions to the field of economic sciences, he has been awarded the “Kautilya Award” by the Indian Economic Association.

Dr. S. Narayanan is an Assistant Professor in the Post Graduate and Research Department of Economics, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. He is also held as Joint Secretary of the Indian Economic Association. He is a lifetime member of many associations like the Indian Economic Association, Society of Industrial and Fiscal Economics (ISIFE), Tamil Nadu Economic Association, Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA), and Institute of Advanced Studies and Research.

Madhusudhanan S
Research Fellow- Finance and Monetary Economics

Madhusudhanan S is an economist and a former Consultant with the Government of India, New Delhi. He has 16 years of experience in Economics Policy and was associated with the Union Ministry of Finance, Union Planning Commission, Government of Tamil Nadu, and CMIE. He writes on economics and finance and has recently authored a book titled “Inflation: An Economic Phenomenon That Matters,” published by Rupa Publications, New Delhi.

He has several scholarly contributions to research articles published internationally, and nationally including his article titled “Rate of Interest and Indian Financial System”, published in 2015 as a chapter in an edited book, Financial Crisis and Indian Economy. More recently, another article of his, “Role of Monetary Policy during Financial Crisis and Its Impact in India”, featured as a chapter in another edited book, New Innovations in Economics, Business and Management Vol. 10.

Dr. Ghanshyam Sharma is an Associate Professor of Economics at the School of Economics and Public Policy, RV University, Bangalore, India. He has previously worked at State University of New York (USA), Seton Hall University (USA), Hiram College (USA), FORE School of Management, New Delhi, Union Planning Commission, Government of India, New Delhi, National Council of Applied Economics Research (NCAER), New Delhi and the Centre for Civil Society, New Delhi. He was an Adam Smith Fellow at Mercatus Centre at George Mason University, USA and the Koch Summer Fellow at University of New Orleans, USA.

He is an empirical microeconomist with a focus on public and health economics. He has a PhD in Economics from Clemson University, USA. He has published several scholarly research articles in international and national level publications including in The Hindu Business Line, Deccan Herald, Mint, Telangana Today, etc.

Mr Kumar Anand
Research Fellow

Kumar Anand is an economist and a public policy professional with over 15 years of experience. Kumar has worked on Indian Economy, Indian Economic History and Public Policy at various organizations including Asianomics Limited, Hong Kong; National Institute of Public Finance and Policy (NIPFP), New Delhi; and Free A Billion, Mumbai. He has written for national and international publications including Le Point – Phebe, Asianomics, The Hindu, Rajasthan Patrika, Pragati, Swarajya, among others. He has undergraduate degree in economics from the University of Delhi and postgraduate degree from the Gokhale Institute of Politics & Economics, Pune. He leads the academic team at Centre for Civil Society, New Delhi.

M.K. Sethu, BE, FIE, FIWWA is a Chartered Engineer specialised in Civil Engineering, execution of massive scale of infrastructure projects for the holistic urban development. He has vast and rich national and international experience in projects designing, planning, implementations and monitoring.

Till recently he was General Manager at Aadhya Overseas, Coimbatore and managed the execution of water Treatment Facilities at Sierra Leone – West Africa. He was Expert Consultant-Projects to M/s. Metcalf & Eddy International at Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for integrated infrastructure projects implementation. He was involved in the execution of various Infra Structure Projects like Stormwater for Dammam City, for Saudi Aramco and Water & Sewer Directorate – KSA.

In 1975, he was deputed from TWAD Board, Government of Tamil Nadu to work with WHO/UNDP for the projects of Madras Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board, in association with Engineering Science Inc.-California, and Shah Technical Consultants-India to prepare a Master Plan for Madras City, forecasting the needs in the water supply, sewer and treatment facilities around the year 2001, 25 years ahead.

He had successfully designed and implemented several urban, city and industrial waste water infrastructure projects. He was Project Coordinator with Creative Environmental Consultants-Chennai for projects approved by the L&T and managed projects related to Water Supply, Sewerage, Firefighting, and the construction of STP, Sewage Pumping Stations, Fresh Water Underground Sump, and Firefighting Sump and Pump House, at L&T Shipbuilding at Kattuppalli – Chennai.

He holds a Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering from PSG College of Technology, Madras University.

Mr.Dushyant Meher
Research Fellow- Children, Women and Cultural Development

Dushyant Meher has over twenty years of experience in the development sector focusing on children, women and education. He has vast experience with civil society organisations in the field of children. He led various initiatives and was involved in several forums including UN Civil Society delegations on HIV/AIDS.

He was a Consultant at Union Planning Commission/NITI Ayog, Government of India, New Delhi. He contributed during the Mid-Term Appraisal of the Eleventh Plan and twelfth Plan Approach Paper as well as its Steering Committee, Working Groups, and Sub-Committees on policies relater to child and women welfare programmes.

He later joined the Policy Cell of the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and contributed immensely to its various policy initiatives. He has drafted some of the key policies on child protection including the policy frameworks – “Care & Protection of Children in Street Situations”, and “Inter-Departmental – Joint Action Plan on Prevention of Drugs and Substance Abuse amongst Children”, these were appreciated by the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India with directions for implementation by the governments. Both these policies are currently being implemented across the country.

His areas of interests include public policies related to child protection, development and education; public health, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) framework, sustainable development, decentralised governance, cultural and creative economy. He is a Member of the Indian Board of Trees for Life International, USA. He has an M.A. in Sociology and a PG Diploma in Print Journalism. Mr.Dushyant Meher is an Independent Consultant based in New Delhi.
